Thermic lances are an oxy-fuel torch that uses iron as a fuel. They burn at ≥2700 - 4000°C.
DIY home tips:
- ignition temperature is 1600°F / 870°C — while an oxy/acetylene may be the fastest way to light this, a forced air + charcoal forge (2300°F) is sufficient to reach this temperature
- Safety is one of the biggest issues. A FULL set of leathers is a must, due to copious blowback.
