The tao of Bolt control:

    Breaking Loose:
The longer the better, for leverage. 1/2" drivers are good for this. Wear leather
gloves if you're really afraid of bloody knuckles.

Memorizing which way the bolt turns will make this process 5 times easier.

(on my brake pads and rotors, all the bolts turn clockwise when facing the wheel
well, which really seems backwards, since the head is on the other side)

    Turning (tightening, loosening):
You want the easiest stroke that doesn't take forever to perform. Tight places
force use of more compact tools that are capable of oscillating in small arcs (eg.
ratchets are good, otherwise 12-sided sockets are helpful). Ratchet wrenches are
                VERY nice for this.

    Iniital threading:
Using tools for this is just begging for stripped bolts. _Always_ thread by hand!

- when working in the wheel well, and need a seat, try sitting on a tire laid down. My WRX tires
are the perfect height for this.

- when working on the brakes, you can TURN THE STEERING WHEEL to give you more room. Amazing how
  that works!!
