• the browser is Pocket Internet Explorer, on Windows Mobile 5.0
• "hosts-file"-like functionality is available, though it is stored only in the registry
• the whole phone can be put in kiosk mode, but that's pretty extreme
• kiosk mode just related to Internet Explorer Mobile:
  • it might be sorta possible?
  • SPB Kiosk Engine, thoguh at $1000, there's no way in hell
  • you can replace the full browser with a trimmed-down one that can't change URLs (note: iesimple.exe is a sample app that's distribued by MS)
• LOOKS GOOD — blacklist the MSIE process

• Dave says "the browser isn't nearly as good as the Droid's, but it's still capable enough, I doubt it's limited enough for you"

  • unofficial ways to neuter the browser, at the very least:
    • unofficial
    • how apps are normally uninstalled, thoguh this appears to not work for official stuff liek the browser
    • there are 3 or 4 browsers installed
    • hacking with net_rim_bb_browser_daemon.cod
      • extra hacking, thoguh NOT with the intent of neutering the browser
      • simply removing it makes the thing inoperable
    • install an internet filter that's so strict that you basically can't do anything (no google, no nothing)
      • MDS can do it
      • no, doing something equivalent to /etc/hosts isn't possible
