- my unit is the RiteTemp 8035C...
- I assume the furnace in this apartment is electric... the fusebox says the furnace circuit is rated for 40 amps (circuit #2 and #4... BE CAREFUL to turn off the right one or you'll slip and turn the whole apartment off, pissing off your sister). I'm seeing references to 20-amp circuits for gas furances.
- simply flipping off the power to the furnace should be fine either way though, for electric OR gas, since furnaces have to deal gracefully with power outages
- 4 wires... looks to be "page 13", 4wire HVAC
- R-furnace (red wire) connects to RH-thermostat
- G-furnace (green wire) connects to G-thermostat
- Y-furnace and 1-furnace (yellow wire) connects to Y-thermostat
- W-furnace (white wire) connects to W-thermostat
- when replacing this with the original thermostat...
- make sure the yellow wire is stripped in two places, and first connects to the "1" post, then connects to the "Y" post
