My roommate has expressed concerns over any possible health risks involved with melting plastic within a kitchen setting.
I really don't know. So this page seeks to explore possible problems.
- great overview
- plasticizers tend to be volatile compounds
- it's not clear whether these chemicals are hamful, however, it is clear that these are some of the chemicals that may leach out during melting
- phthalates are a class of plasticizer that have been scrutinized for having possible health effects. They are especially mobile chemicals.
- Bisphenol A in particular has been noted as possibly bad
